Yeah, Man! A Caribbean cooking green, Callaloo is great steamed or stewed, and is an integral ingredient in Jamaican recipes. Both the stems and the leaves can be consumed and they have a very unique flavour. Our very hot summer this year has caused them to flourish on our farm where they grow wild! Just wash, prune ugly leaves, and throw into a steamer and enjoy!

Callaloo leaves have all the nutritional benefits of other leafy green vegetables. They are high in fiber, iron and calcium, and contain large amounts of vitamins A, B, and C, lutein, amino acids, and carotene.

I steamed them as suggested, and they were lovely! I love trying all the greens.
